Do You Know When to Fold ’Em? Mental Health and You.
Wednesday Jan 24, 2024
Wednesday Jan 24, 2024
How do you define mental health? Mental Fitness? Resilience? Do you know when to fold 'em and when to run - and I'm not talking about if you've got nothing but a pair here? Mental Health is more than a buzz word, but are we really getting the message and doing what we need to do to be there, offer help, know where to go for help or perhaps hardest of all, ask for help. Join me and my guest, Skylin Herba from CAF Mental Health Services as we dive into this topic and talk about practical ways that we can double check that we are doing right by our mental health.
Check out CFMAP if you would like immediate contact with someone who can set you up with help 1-800-268-7708. CFMAP can be accessed by CAF members and their immediate family members (ie. spouse, partner and dependant children of the member)

Messes - Then and Now
Friday Nov 17, 2023
Friday Nov 17, 2023
Think you know about messes? Do you go? Do you avoid going? Why? What is the history, why do they exist? How have they changed? What do they offer? These and many more questions are answered by my two amazing guests, Dawn DeCosse, Edmonton Garrison Officer's Mess Manager (EGOM), and Maj JP Wright, PMC of the EGOM. It's an interesting and insightful discussion that will definitely impact your understanding, dare I say even belief in the relevance of messes. Things have changed, it's not 1979 anymore, and if these two have anything to do with it, messes will be here for a long time to come. Have you been to YOUR mess lately? Go. Go now. You will be (pleasantly) surprised:)

Truth and Reconciliation - with MCpl P George
Thursday Sep 28, 2023
Thursday Sep 28, 2023
On this first episode of Season 7, we are honoured to discuss the challenges and steps that we all need to take to move towards a place of Truth and Reconciliation as we approach the second National Day for Truth and Reconciliation. MCpl Phoenix George of LdSH(RC) speaks about what the day means, both generally and to her personally, her role as the Alberta Military Co-Chair, Defence Indigenous Advisory Group. It's an informative, thoughtful and thought provoking conversation about something that many of us never learned in school, but that we must all come to terms with if we are to be able to really become both an organization and a country that is truly committed to treating all people with respect and dignity, free of prejudice and discrimination. It's a long path, but if we follow MCpl George's advice, we can all get there. Together.

Building Healthy Habits - June Project 30 Challenge
Wednesday Jun 07, 2023
Wednesday Jun 07, 2023
We've all tried to start something new, and a lot of times we either lack that kick in the pants to actually get going, or we are gung ho at first and then things go off the rails somehow. We know how important it is to have good habits - that will keep us healthy, make sure that we pay our taxes on time or remember to take out the garbage (sometimes the bar is very low!). But what goes into creating a habit, what good do they do and what are some of the things that we might need to be aware of so that we don't go down some dark rabbit hole by accident? Join Fitness Instructors Kristin Atkinson and Scott Paradis as we tackle the issue of habits as part of the launch of our June Project 30 Healthy Habit Challenge!
